An AI screening assistant in recruitment is a tool that uses artificial intelligence to automate and streamline the initial stages of the hiring process.
It helps recruiters by analyzing resumes, assessing candidates, and filtering applications based on predefined criteria.
How does it work
To ensure accurate processing, a candidate’s profile must contain a minimum of 500 characters (including spaces) across the following sections:
Summary
Resume
Skills
Languages
Work Experience
Education
Projects
If the total content across these sections is less than 500 characters, the candidate will be skipped and not processed.
This requirement helps maintain data quality and ensures that there’s enough information for meaningful evaluation.
Configuring an AI Screening Assistant for your job posting
When creating or editing a job in TalentLyft, you can set up and customize AI Quick Screening criteria to automatically evaluate candidates who apply for that job.
Users can set up their own custom criteria and determine which factors are more important than others when assessing if a candidate is fit for a role.
Alternatively, they can allow the AI Assistant to make the decision based on the information gathered from the job description.
Extracting the criteria from the job description and defining their importance
To let your AI Screening Assistant extract the main criteria from that job description, please open the AI Screening Assistant tab and click on the Extract from job description button.
It will then show the most important criteria by which it will screen candidates. It will also let you decide which criteria are more important and mandatory for the candidate to meet.
Defining your own custom criteria and defining their importance
To set up the criteria and define the importance for each one yourself, please open the AI Quick Screening tab and click on the Add criteria button.
You can then set up your own custom requirements (criteria), and also set up the Importance level for each one. You can write a short description for each one you add.
After you have set up your AI Screening Assistant for that job, please click on the Save button.

After you have configured the AI Screening Assistant for that job, and you start to receive applications, it will automatically review candidate applications and compare them against the criteria and requirements set by you or the AI Assistant.
You will also receive more information on how each criterion was defined and if the candidate matches the set requirement.
Sorting and filtering candidates by AI score within a stage
To make your application screening easier, you can also sort them within a stage By match score.
Those with a better score will be put at the top of the applications list on the left.
Besides sorting them, you can also filter them by the AI Screening Assistant Status to see who was screened by AI, if the calculation is still in progress, or if you haven't defined the criteria or the system was unable to calculate the score.
